"It's Not Just About Finance"

Congress Critters…Prisoners of Their Own Device

Mirrors on the ceiling.

The Pink Champagne on ice.

And she said “We are all just prisoners here, of our own device”

And in the master’s chambers

They gathered for the feast

They stab it with their steely knives

But they just can’t kill the beast”

(Hotel California – Eagles circa 1977)

43 years ago, who would’ve guessed the Eagle’s iconic song, Hotel California – a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream and about excess in America – would serve as a prophetic reminder of what we’ve become as a nation.

The reality of “Hotel California” hit home with me at a recent family gathering.

Walking from the kitchen into the family room I saw seven kids/young adults all sitting together with their heads down, focusing on their cell phones.  No one was talking – they were probably texting each other – and in my head I heard the lyrics “We are all just prisoners here of our own device.”

And it got me thinking how the critters in DC play the Victim Card on the American public enabling them to further their corrupt agenda.

They no longer “Serve the Public.”

Instead, they constantly whine about how Trump hurt their feelings and that’s why he should be impeached.

They NEVER admit they made a mistake (God forbid) and use their major policy blunders as a springboard to writing new laws that undermine our Constitution and steal more of our rights.

Unfortunately, the corruption is rooted so deep in Washington that it will require a major overhaul to see any meaningful change.

You see, like the kids with cell phones, Congress Critters – acting like victims – are all just prisoners here of their own device.

It’s how all empires collapse.

Be sure to read our January newsletter to see how the markets collapse coincides with the loss of confidence in government (HERE).

“Last thing I remember I was running for the door

I had to find the passage back to the place I was before.

“Relax, said the night man We are programmed to receive.

You can check-out any time you like, but you can NEVER leave!”

(cue up famous guitar solo)
