Have you ever heard someone say, “Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society?”
When I first heard that I thought, “That kinda makes sense” but something didn’t quite sound right about it.
Later on, I realized that it’s another justification for governments to steal from you.
Taxes aren’t the price we pay for a civilized society. They’re a sign of the fact that society is becoming uncivilized.
Taxes are about coercion…A civilized society is based on voluntarism.
Why is it that people don’t remember that before 1913* there was no income tax in the US?
(Note* 1913 is when the Federal Reserve was established)
We were a much more civilized and freer country back then.
Ironically (or NOT) the most creative and productive people tend to have the highest incomes.
Productive people shouldn’t be penalized for supplying more goods and services to their neighbors and to the markets.
Ironically (or NOT) the money they involuntarily give in taxes could have been used to create more wealth for the rest of the world.
Ironically (or NOT) the money taken from them is mostly squandered on welfare and funding wars.
Ironically (or NOT) the US government welfare programs continue to cement the lower classes to the bottom of society…and that number is growing every day.
Unfortunately, we’ve been training generations to consume more than they produce (ex: credit card debt, student loans, mortgage debt, etc.).
Simply put, This Won’t End Well.
Ironically (or NOT) the majority of the population’s default mechanism is to say, “Well, somehow the government will fix it.”
Government solutions to problems (they created) constantly create new problems.
It’s the old “Wash, Rinse, Repeat” cycle.
And the Creepy Congress Critters continue to pick your pockets with new taxes.
So, if you want to keep politicians from stealing from you, be sure to read “Stealth Taxes…the Ones You Never See” in our July “…In Plain English” newsletter.
