Most people are familiar with the names Samson and Jezebel from the Bible.
And even though they appeared in different eras of history we are seeing a modern-day re-enactment of them in the form of Trump vs Harris.
Wait! What?
Before you roll your eyes and click the delete button, hear me out.
If you have been reading our posts for any length of time you know how we often say: “History repeats because the passions of man never change.”
So, let’s look at some history of both Samson and Jezebel and how their actions – and character – relate to our two presidential candidates, Trump, and Harris.
Samson’s story is one of the most well-known in the Old Testament. And he is one of the most fierce and best-known Judges.
And although he possessed great power and strength, it’s safe to say that he was “rough around the edges.”
Because in addition to his great strength, he was a known for his riddles, and his appetite for wine, and women.
But despite his character flaws, God still used Samson to save the Israelites from the Philistines.
And his death is remembered as one of redemption with God and man.
History gives us several lessons about his life.
- Be careful to whom you share your secrets
- Don’t be morally weak
- Rely on God’s strength
- And be obedient to God’s commandments
Donald Trump
Suffice it to say that Donald Trump is “rough around the edges.”
And he is known for some of his “womanizing ways.”
But despite Trump’s character flaws, he is the only candidate who emphasizes how we need to Make America Great Again.
And that we need to depend on God to save our nation from the destructive path it’s on.
Jezebel’s story is quite different than Sampsons.
Especially when you consider that she hated the people of Israel…even though she was married to a King of Israel, Ahab.
She is known for replacing the Israelites worship of God with the worship of Baal and Asherah (Demonic figures).
And she was also known as a murderer, prostitute, and enemy of God with an insatiable appetite for sex.
Her rise to power did not come from a popular vote.
Instead, she took control over a weak King (Ahab) and ruled with a reign of terror.
Her gruesome death was prophesied by Elijah.
And the name Jezebel is remembered as one of the most wicked women in history.
Kamala Harris
We are not saying that Kamala Harris is one of the most wicked women in history.
But based on what we have seen so far, we are reminded of another famous scripture from Ecclesiastes:
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”
~ Ecclesiastes 1:9 ~
